The Board meets on Wednesday for the first time in 2010 with what seems to be a very full agenda - an update next week.
This Saturday sees the qualifying round for the Godby Trophy one of the premier competitions of the Club, the first 32 by way of stroke nett qualify for the matchplay rounds on handicap. The first round of matchplay is scheduled for the 27 February so you must be available to play on that day!! Please mark your card N/A if you can not play or tick the box if you can.
Sunday sees the next Mixed match for the Centennial Icebucket. The competition will be a bamboozle stableford from the Women's card with the best 3 of 4 scores on every hole counting with each pair being drawn with another on the morning of the match. It is therefore necessary for you to be in the Clubhouse by 11.45 so the draw can take place and starting holes allocated. How better to celebrate Valentines Day than playing golf at Shirley!! The entry fee of $22.50 covers the meal at the end of the round.
President's make the journey to Coringa for the next round of their competition looking to continue a promising run of form and move further way from the foot of the table. In the interim Steve Ellis continues to stamp his authority on the Metro team wielding a selectorial axe impartially - the three losing lawyers, Keith Love and himself have all been cut and it now falls on the returning Ben Frampton to restore the honour of the legal profession.
Ben joins the team along with John Dickson (Mr JD), Cran Bull, Peter Davey, and Ray Vivian while the survivors from the first win are Tony Park, Paddy Helmore and Garry Forward. The match against Russley is at Shirley with an 8.30 tee off. I know the players would be appreciative of support albeit fleeting around the course.
In the interim good golfing and I will see you at Shirley if not before.
