The Randolph Cup is an Open event normally held after closing day but inevitably the renovation programme has pushed it into the new season. We take the opportunity of thanking our very generous sponsor PGF who provided the prize table filled with varying sizes of golf bags.
As seems to be usual the morning players scooped the pool being over represented in all the three grades. Jin Ho Neoh continued the good form he displayed towards the end of last year to win the Cup with a nett stroke round 83 - 20 = 63. A particular thank you to Jin Ho who made the journey back for the prize giving - this gesture was much appreciated.
In a surprising return to form Board member Glenn Bongartz headed home the Senior division with a nett 69 to be in front of John Connell on 70 by countback from Garry Forward (an afternoon player). The Intermediate grade was especially tough with a nett 66 from Vaughan McMillan being the best score followed by Chris Brocket on 68 & Bruce Trangmar (afternoon player) on 69. The Juniors were not to be left behind with a nett 65 to Kevin O'Malley from Robert Ling on 67 & Chom-Ey Lim on 68.
There were 17 two's with each recipient qualifying for three golf balls each (if you haven't collected yours please see Struan). Nearest the pin on 3 was Bentley Seeto & on 11 Matthew Hicks while closest to the pin on 18 for 2 was Alan Shaw. Saturday saw a big field with 120 in the morning and another 100 in the afternoon however with a shotgun start the field seemed to move at a good pace through out the day - long may it last!!
