Inner city living has many advantages but very occasionally you may get caught out by something unexpected.
On the night of the Otago visit "the girlfriend" kindly agreed to transport me from the golf club to home after the dinner. Uninhibited by driving duties I partook in perhaps one or two extra glasses over and above the norm but was still keenly aware of a need to perform at ones best on the following day.
As is my wont in such situations I determined an evening stroll would be appropriate to clear the head and sharpen the senses. Accordingly "the girlfriend" dropped me a few blocks from my place of residence to complete the journey on foot. All well and good you may say until you realise you are walking up Manchester Street "dressed " in a kilt at midnight.
Needless to say I attracted significant ribald comment from passing traffic and a number of interesting proposals - the journey was completed in record time!
