Another busy week follows culminating with the visit of the Otago Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday. Starting the week on Monday the Club takes the opportunity to thank all those who have supported our activities through the year as we host Sponsors Day, a day of golf followed by a meal and the draw for the hole sponsors for the 2010 year.
On Wednesday the Men's Committee meets with what looks like another very full agenda. We will be reviewing the programme and looking to establish a roster of starters and course marshalls for the next month - including Club champs. On Friday Canterbury Golf runs an event for the Club Captains of the Association this year to be held at Rawhiti - so that will be another day away from work.
Saturday sees us host Otago in what is one of the oldest inter club matches in existence anywhere in the world. There are two teams, the serious and the less serious. The Senior team plays for a foursome trophy on the Saturday and an individual match on the Sunday. The aptly named "Friendly Cup" competition is the cumulative result of a fourball on Saturday and individual on the Sunday. This is a full on programme especially when the social activities are added in!! I am sure the Otago Team will contain a number of friends and acquaintances so please make yourself know during the two days!!
Just a reminder that our course is patrolled by a Course Warden (Ian Walker - father of the 2010 winning Coast to Coast competitor) outside of normal golfing hours so please ensure you are carrying a sand bucket, have some form of club ID, are using tees on the new fairways and are hitting no more than two balls if you are having a practice swing otherwise you may incur his ire.
