Unexpectedly as a result of attending the New Zealand Open and an accommodating travel schedule Peter Thomson was able to pay a flying visit the course last Tuesday.
The Board were keen to have Peter's input into a number of proposed course enhancements in particular; the development of the "waste areas" on 4 & 17, the tee development and traffic management around the 3 tee especially when moving from the second green, and further modifications to the 6 fairway. Plenty of food for thought was provided by Peter and the Board will be in a position to have some well reasoned discussions on these and other matters during the year.
Peter was enthusiastic in regards to the general state and presentation of the course and very supportive of the moves made in respect of the rough management. The new fairways greatly impressed him and he is now considering trialling the same grass mixture in Melbourne to see if the similar results can be obtained. After so many options being discussed Peter gave his seal of approval to the development of the waterway between 7 & 8 believing it was now an outstanding feature of the course.
