After several days of rain Friday morning broke as one of those days that convince you that living on the Coast may not be all that bad. However my mediation "crashed and burned" and then I had to get in the car and drive home so there was no benefit to me.
Now the supposition would be that good coffee would be scarce in Westport well the answer is no it's not but you do have too know where to look. After several trips and less than satisfactory refreshments I discovered the Middle Break Cafe situated at 124 Palmeston Street Westport (the main street but a good way along as you travel through town). This is an unpretentious cafe that serves very good coffee and kai.
The beans used are Supreme and perfectly adequate but the atmosphere is particularly appealing. The walls show local artists and there was a good mixture of oils, watercolours and mosaics on display. The eclectic furniture of my last visit had been updated and I am not sure I totally approve but my favourite iconic early 60's couch and chairs were still present.
If you are looking for coffee in Westport I do recommend you try Middle Break.
