Simon Team in Promising Start

Our Simon team played its first match on Sunday at Rawhiti and while the team suffered an overall loss to McLeans Island 5 1/2 - 2 1/2 there were some encouraging signs. Our team consists of a cross section of youth and experience. In particular the younger players performed creditably with wins to Andrew Topp and Ciaran Selwyn and a half to James Ardagh. Henry Pearson also played well fighting back from a slow start and being 4 down to lose on the 17th 3/1. I am sure that next week the more senior players will be standing up for the count.
