Caffe Roma is situated at 176 Oxford Terrace between Worcester & Gloucester Streets just along from Rydges Hotel in the premises (for those of us with long memories) previously occupied, until the mid 80's, by the Midland Club.
The cafe is well patronised for morning coffees by the legal and accounting fraternities but I especially like arriving in early , it opens at 7am, for breakfast where for $16 I can have a simple bacon & eggs accompanied with 2 cups of coffee. In a nice touch all coffee arrives with a small chocolate fish and there are always plenty of papers to read.
Where possible I occupy the couches that front the fire which is generally in operation during the winter months but unfortunately sometimes uses coal. The cafe has retained the wood panelling which provides a pleasant atmosphere however at times the polished floor can be a wee bit noisy.
For me Caffe Roma is place I go when I consider I deserve to give myself a special treat!
