This Wednesday a group of 7 members depart for Sydney to play in the annual Bledisloe Golf tournament. The team is David Blair, Peter Guthrey, Andrew Hopkins, Jim Keegan, Peter Law, Charles Whitwham and David Young, the 8th member of the team is Mark Southall who is based in Melbourne.
There will be teams from Royal Wellington GC, Auckland GC, Metropolitan GC (Melbourne), The Australian GC (Sydney), Royal Sydney GC and Royal Queensland GC. This year it is the turn of Royal Sydney to play host and the competition will be played on Friday 21 August. The format is a stableford round with the best 6 from each team counting towards the Team score, with the highest team score winning. There is also a Trans Tasman Teams Trophy, with the top 15 scores from NZ v. the top 15 scores from Australia. From memory NZ won this last year at Auckland GC.
There is also a trophy for the person with the lowest stableford score from the Tournament as a whole - one you definitely do not want to win. Roving reporter Charles Whitwham will provide a full report in due course.
