Sunday saw two full rounds of inter club and the results for Christchurch were mixed to say the least.
In Woodward played at Waimairi Beach we suffered losses to both Kaiapoi and Avondale. Kaiapoi are the form team although we were defeated 5/1 will a little luck we could have secured a half. The conditions in the afternoon turned the match against Avondale into a lottery in which the chips finally fell in Avondales favour. On a positive note Mitchell Vincent won his debut match in Woodward, at number 1 Tom Turner secured two further victories to remain unbeaten this season, and we had a very good turnout of members in support & caddying roles (many thanks).
The Blank team had a number of changes from the previous week and perhaps Windsor was not ideally suited to the expansive game favoured by the Christchurch players. A loss against Templeton in the morning did not bode well but a win against Avondale in the afternoon placed the team on a more secure footing. Congratulations to Rod O'Brien who won both his matches.
Our Simon Team is very much in the developmental stage but has been gaining significant experience over the first few rounds and this was borne out with their first success over Clearwater at Avondale 4 1/2 to 3 1/2. Unfortunately they did not go so well in the morning match against Russley losing 6 - 2. However in their favour they have now played three of the leading teams so matters will only improve from here on in.
The competitions continue next week with Woodward visiting Weedons, Blank journeying to Templeton and Simon travelling to Waitikiri - once again all support would be greatly appreciated across all teams.
