A huge thank you to all the club members who turned out on Sunday for the working bee. There were approximately 20 members who were divided into 3 teams. The ladies undertook the task of clearing up all the pine cones that were littering the course and filled close on a dozen big bags. An enthusiastic team, including myself, were assigned duties on the 14th tee in demolishing the weeds in the tussocks and tidying up the weeds that were dead from spraying. The biggest team under the direction of Mark Lawson concentrated on the mounding between 15 & 16 removing all the "hard fill and rubbish" from the added soil so that final shaping can take place (this was a hot and tiring task but it was much appreciated).
After a hard two hours work it was pleasant to retreat to the clubhouse for a barbecue and a beer provided by the club. (I suspect my former wife would be surprised at my participation I probably did more work in that 2 hours than in 23 years of marriage!). It is likely we will consider the possibility of more bees later in the year so watch this space.
