A relatively quite week on the work front saw me head to Terrace Downs on Friday for the Hohepa Trust Charity Golf Day. It was great to see so many Christchurch members in attendance. On the organising committee were Maree Phillips, Robyn Gilliespie, Imelda Musgrave and Helen Richmond - a great effort in staging and management a worthwhile job very well done. Members also featured in the prizes with Chris Brockett winning on countback 38 points but every where you looked Christchurch members kept on popping up!!
Saturday saw the second round of Club Champs - generally put a stroke round in the mix and scoring seems to balloon. Despite this there were some good rounds. Brendan Hicks was again successful with a nett 68 to win the Seniors from Warren Jones & David Lamb on 71. The Intermediates saw Michael Ambrose head off Nick Sekeris on countback with a 66 from Joe Mullins & Kim Sanders on 68. Mike Kirkland lead home the Juniors on 70 from a host of players on 71.
Twos were worth $13.35 and there were 15 winners. Bruce Taylor collected the jackpot of 2x2 of $50. Nett eagles with a balance of $167.50 was struck hole 5 Andre Kotzikas & Kim Sanders. The Linden Leaves prize on 2 for 2 was won by Tony Millar while Marty Holman took the Benjarong Thai Cuisine sponsored prize on 18.
At the top of the leaderboard for qualifying in the Seniors we have Peter MacDougall from Bruce Taylor & Ian MacDonald. After two good rounds Raymond Liong leads the Intermediates from Tony McKeogh , Michael Ambrose & Niven Boyle. Don Forbes once again heads the Juniors from Jin Ho Neoh & David Young. Good luck to all the participants in the first round of matchplay this weekend.
Sunday saw the Metro (see separate report) and the President's teams play at home, unfortunately both recorded losses by the same amount 51/2 to 21/2. An improved performance is expected from both teams next time out!!
In the interim good golfing!
