Despite the persistent rain on Saturday afternoon & evening I was confident we would get our postponed Round 7 match played on Sunday morning. ( we just had to rain or shine - our calender is full).
A glorious hot sunny day & the course was in great condition.
Coringa as usual had brought a strong team to come & play - which they did !!
We were 4 down after 4 matches - not a great start !!
David Young & yours truly battled away - the turning point being local knowledge - staying on the right hand side of number 9 - just gave us both a little edge - aided & abetted by me thumping a chip into the flag pole on No 16 - the ball disappeared - I thought it was off the green - but it was in the hole & brought a tense match to an end. A 38 on the home nine only just enough to secure the win.
Down to our No1 & 2's - there was hope - Marcus was all square on 16 & Chris I think was 1 up.
The added pressure of me running down 17 to tell them we needed 2 wins to half the match was too much. We went down fighting 5.5 to 2.5. Chris in the trees on the left hand side of 18 & Marcus in the trees on the right hand side didn't bode well - when both Coringa players put their 2nds onto the green- the match was over. Chris secured a well earned half.
Good banter in the clubhouse followed by a light & excellent lunch - thanks Amanda.
