What's Happening Week of 13 April.........

Firstly my apologies if I did not appear to answer your telephone message last week, on Thursday Telestra Clear discovered there was an error in our messaging system which meant we were not being advised of incoming messages for the week. By the time I got too my mailbox there were 11 unanswered calls. I think I have now caught up but if you are still waiting please call again - I will ring back promise.

Our 'away' team (approximately 8 couples) heads over to the Heritage this week and we wish them all the best for their trip. I am sure they will have a great time given the efforts of Barry & Robyn Fletcher in setting up the itinerary and we await their report upon return - good golfing people.

For us, the stay-at-homes, the rescheduled J O Jameson Veterans Cup takes place together with the first qualifying round of the shootout. If you have not caught up with it yet note the Wood Trowel weekend has now moved to 2 & 3 May - watch this space!!

If you are looking to move closer to the golf course the Club has entered into an arrangement with the developers of the Waikakariki Subdivision over the road whereby there is a chance to have you Club Subscription paid for a year if you purchase a section- more details are available in the Club House.

The Board met last week and is working towards a decision in May in respect of the fairway renovations. Mark is reasonably happy with the progress of the new fairways but acknowledges there is still some little way to go for the green surrounds. Some of these areas have been resown to get a better strike and hopefully the autumn growth period will improve matters. The spiking has gone well and the greens should be sanded within the next wee while ensuring a good surface during winter.

The Men's Committee meets this Wednesday and we will be discussing Twilight golf for 2009/10 possibly with a business house flavour let me know your views.Over the next few weeks we will be seeking to establish a social programme for the Club so if there is anything you would like us to do please feel free to speak with me.

One of our projects for 2009 is a revamping of the Website and it may well be that this "blog" is incorporated into the new format so again your views of what we should be doing are sought. The new system may also make on line tee booking a reality as we strive to improve the service to members. As always I will attempt to keep you informed of developments as they occur, in the interim enjoy your golf.
