Sunday saw the last place in the Top Dog semi finals decided with the Bond/Maguire pairing being successful over Andrew Sloane & Dean Corry. These next matches are due to be played by the 6 September but given the demands on the course that does not provide too much extra time. (Apparently I had been given incorrect information and the victors were in fact Andrew Sloane & Dean Corry over Mark Bond & Dennis Maguire by a margin of 2/1 - Dennis pleads confusion particularly as he has only just returned from Ireland - Apologies to Andrew & Dean).
This Saturday sees Round 10 of the Shootout being played with the current qualifying mark being set at 74. Given the condition of the course and the spell of good Winter weather it is likely that this mark will increase over the coming few rounds. With the planned fairway renovations the date of the final has been changed to please see the revised programme to ensure you keep the weekend free if you think you are going to qualify!!
Match of the day is a Multiplied Team Stableford so that will ensure full participation from all team members. Remember 0 x whatever still equals 0 and it never ceases to amaze me the fines that are imposed on those unfortunate enough to score the first or any zero. I will be out and about early as the course Marshall and taking an interested view of how the competition is proceeding.
Following last week away I am based in town until Friday largely because of what are known as P40's which translated means the annual Performance Review - I had been booked in to go to Westport but that was changed (Bugger!!). We have both a practical, earlier in the week, and a one-on-one with our team leader in my case on Friday afternoon - I will probably need both drinks soon thereafter and the weekend to recover. From next Monday 3 August I travel to the West Coast for the week so the Blog report maybe slightly later in publication but I will try to send it out prior to departure.
In the interim good golfing and I will see you at Shirley if not before.
