The Week That Was..............

Foursomes is one of the traditional games of Golf and played widely in Scotland on a regular basis. I think it appropriate that we play it as a format at least once a year to remind ourselves of the roots of the game. It also has the advantage during the Winter months of being a fast game allowing players to get out and around without dying of exposure or being trapped by the darkness - neither was a factor on Saturday which was an absolutely stellar day.

Saturdays competition was in two parts the winners of the Otago Salver with a gross score of 71 was the combination of two former club champions Tom Turner & Paul Dunn. In a close second on 73 were the young tyro's of Liam Cumberpatch & Mitchell Vincent from the more experienced combination of Simon Yorke & Glenn Bongartz on 78. In the Old Friends Trophy the winners with a nett 70 were Joe Tiller & Ron Williams (not Trig) from in countback order on 71 Brent Musgrave & Chris Richmond, Grant Borrie & Mark Rountree, and Geoff Brodie & Allan Masters.

Given the format closest to the pins were on par 4's and $20 each to Brent Musgrave & Chris Richmond on 1, Liam Cumberpatch & Mitchell Vincent on 2, Glenn Bongartz & Simon Yorke on 17 and Ken Fergus & Rod O'Brien on 18. Six pairs recorded two's and each member receives $18 from a pool of $216.
