It might be old age, being an inner city dweller, or my imagination but over the last 12 months it seems to have become more difficult to enter, exit or transverse the city by motor vehicle. If at all possible the driving habits of Christchurch residents seem to have deteriorated even further. To my jaundiced eyes it appears there has been an inordinate growth of traffic and traffic delays with the congestion very apparent as you head south.
In addition SH1 to Ash Vegas is almost like driving in city traffic - head to tail nearly all the way. Tootling along in the government vehicle at 109kph as I hold left in the passing lanes the cars become a blur as they whizz past me! When did I get to be so old and slow?? No doubt soon I will be driving in a hat! I think I am lucky to have a direct route, known by my car, between home and the golf course and praise be apart from the Supermarket and Sumner I can walk most other places.
